Skunks are one of the most frightening animals to have near the home, and for good cause. The most common problem with these mammals is that they stink! Skunks are known to spray anything they perceive to be an adversary, and their extraordinarily stinky spray has been known to travel up to 23 feet. Skunks will only attack if cornered or defending their young, and they will frequently spray pets that they perceive to be a threat. However, spraying isn't the first method of defense. Skunks will spit, growl, puff their fur, shake their tail, and stomp their feet on the ground. They will lift their tail and spray their famed skunk odor if the invader does not leave.
